Le Dragonfly en Tremblant, Winner of The Peoples Choice Award & Finalist in The New Zealand Jewellery Design Competition 2011.

Le Dragonfly en Tremblant brooch was inspired from the Art Nouveau period. The wings are mounted on a gold spring and given the slightest movement will tremble as if to fly.  It is entirely hand made in 18ct Gold and set with Blue topaz, Peridot, Green, Blue and Pink Tourmaline, Ceylonese Sapphires and 93 Brilliant-cut Diamonds.

Cabochons were custom-cut for the upper wings with their transparency revealing delicate veins. Graduating brilliant-cut diamonds are bead-set on the leading edge of the upper wings, are rub set into the nose, pave set into the body and rub/bead set into the tail.  The under wings are set with graduating Ceylonese sapphires and tourmalines graduating in size and colour.

The under-body holds a hard 18ct (high nickel alloy) white gold spring that enables Le Dragonfly brooch to tremble.   The brooch pin is also made from hard 18ct (high nickel alloy) white gold. The catch has a safe triple-locking mechanism.
